Located in the heart of Burgundy and Beaujolais, the Château de Chénas was built in 1821 by the De la Hante family on the site of an ancient stronghold. In 1934, a group of winegrowers from Chénas and Moulin-à-Vent purchased the Château and founded the Cooperative Winery. Today, more than 80 winegrowers and 180 members bring their grapes here to be vinified and marketed. Its impressive vaulted cellar, measuring 560 m² in area and 56 meters in length, dates back to 1730. Its basket-handle arch design allows the wine to be stored at a constant temperature. It is one of the largest cellars in the Beaujolais region, with a storage capacity of 900 hectoliters — approximately 120,000 bottles. The Cave du Château de Chénas produces appellation wines from Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, Morgon, Fleurie, Juliénas, Saint-Amour, Brouilly, Chiroubles, Régnié, Côte de Brouilly, Beaujolais Villages, and Beaujolais Blanc.
