ORGANIC VINEYARDS IN POITEVINE Ampelidae is based in the southern part of the Loire Valley, in Marigny-Brizay. This large-scale region follows the course of France's longest river, crossing 14 départements from the Massif Armoricain to the Monts d'Auvergne. This long-ignored vineyard has its roots in a very ancient past. Traces of vine-growing in Vienne date back to 276 AD. The 20th century brought with it a revitalized, confidential, young and dynamic vineyard. PHILOSOPHY A forerunner in organic viticulture in the Loire Valley, Ampelidae works the vines and soils with respect. At the domaine, organic viticulture is also synonymous with innovation and reflection. It combines the common sense of natural methods with the know-how of cutting-edge winemaking techniques, to guarantee wines of consistent quality. OUR WINES Ampelidae grows a dozen local grape varieties. Local originality, ancient grape varieties or those from neighboring vineyards, they subtly express the different soils that nurture them. In the middle, Sauvignon Blanc and its Poitevin cousin, Sauvignon Gris, known here as Fié Gris, reign supreme. On the red side, Pinot noir and Cabernet franc provide the perfect expression of the hillside terroir.
