About this winery
Maison Saget La Perrière is first and foremost a family affair, the story of Jean-Louis and Marie-Claire Saget and their two sons Arnaud and Laurent. Production notes
The finest Pinot grapes are selected and harvested at optimum ripeness to ensure high aromatic concentration. The harvest macerates for several days in open barrels. Fermentation is then carried out at 20°C in the same barrels, with daily punching of the cap to extract maximum fruity aromas. After a month's vatting, “La Naine Rouge” is aged in barrels for 18 months to soften the tannins.
Tasting notes
“La Naine Rouge” is a lovely Pinot with a ruby-red color and purple highlights. The nose is greedy and the fruit aromas very expressive: black fruits, blackberry, blackcurrant, strawberry jam. On the palate, the black fruit aromas are matched by a crisp, juicy texture. The tannins are pleasantly mellow and fine, for a wine that's all tenderness. Food pairings: Bayonne ham, cheeses and meats (coq à la bière, pot au feu), couscous royal and grattin dauphinois.
