Le Clos Saint-Jean is a family estate located in the commune of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the heart of the southern Rhône Valley vineyards. The vineyard covers some forty hectares and cultivates grape varieties typical of the region, such as Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Muscardin, Mourvèdre and Vaccarèse. Clos Saint-Jean was founded in 1900 by Edmond Tacussel. Visionary and passionate, he recognized the potential of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir of rolled pebbles. His wines soon became world-renowned and conquered the finest tables in the world. His grandsons have taken over this estate, which is now one of the most renowned in the appellation. The estate works according to the “mode de production raisonné”, with extremely limited use of insecticides and phytosanitary treatments. Harvesting is done by hand, to select only the best bunches. Clos Saint-Jean wines are made with care and attention, to produce exceptional wines. They are renowned for their finesse, elegance and power, so characteristic of the appellation.
