Philippe and Marie Germain fell under the spell of Château de la Roulerie in 2004, and decided to leave their native Bordeaux to settle in Anjou. The origins of the estate date back to the 14th century, when it was founded by the knight Raoul, who gave it the name Roulerie. Today's buildings date from the late 19th century, with the original gravity-fed winery being the most original feature. Built on a hillside and raised on 3 levels, its predecessors used the force of gravity as a pump. Concerned about the environment, it was only logical to begin the organic shift; all cuvées have been certified by Ecocert since 2015.
