Production notes
The grapes are harvested and selected by hand in the vineyards. The bunches, transported in small bins, are again sorted on a sorting table before passing through the destemmer. Maceration lasts around 15 days, with frequent pumping over, followed by racking. Racking and malolactic fermentation follow. Sangiovese is matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, Cabernet and Merlot for 18 months in barrels, and 6 months in bottle.
Tasting notes
A brilliant ruby colour with purple highlights. Spicy notes such as ginger, orange zest, aniseed and a hint of vanilla are well integrated into an abundance of dark berries. Elegant, fresh and juicy on the palate, dominated by black cherry on a framework of round tannins. Generous finish with lingering flavours of black pepper, liquorice and black fruit. Food pairing: Rich, flavoursome dishes based on red sauce and red meat, game, stews, truffles and mature cheeses.
