About this winery

Le Clos Saint-Jean is a family estate located in the commune of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the heart of the southern Rhône Valley vineyards. The vineyard covers some forty hectares and cultivates grape varieties typical of the region, such as Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Muscardin, Mourvèdre and Vaccarèse. Production notes

Hand-harvested. The grapes are pressed using a pneumatic press to guarantee perfect protection of the must. The Grenache and Roussanne grapes are vinified in 4-wine barrels to preserve the varietal typicity. The use of batonnage adds texture and roundness. Clairette and Bourboulenc are vinified in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is blocked for greater freshness and uprightness. Grenache and Roussannes are aged for 9 months in 4-wine barrels. Clairette and Bourboulenc are aged for 9 months in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting notes

Nose: Aromatic, with notes of white fruit and citrus, offering seductive complexity. Palate: Deep and intense, with hints of nuts, white truffles and elegant white peaches. The texture is round and fleshy, with a fresh finish. Finish: Long and persistent, leaving a lasting impression of finesse and balance. Food pairing: Fish and seafood dishes, white meats and soft and blue cheeses.
